Keaau-Pahoa Road Reopens

Categories :

After several months of road closure to give way for widening works, the Keaau-Pahoa Road was reopened last Tuesday, January 16, 2018.

The project, which started last October 21 was basically a restriping project where road stripes were repainted and rumble strips were removed in order to give way to a fourth lane on Highway 130 between Keaau and Shower Drive in Puna.

The restriping project was proposed after a $40 million state budget was allocated to improve Highway 30.

There’s also a new traffic signal installed and went operational at the intersection of Shower Drive and Highway 130. This is part of the project that aims to improve the intersection of Highway 130 and Shower Drive that started in January and cost $4 million.
